Joint solution to be demonstrated in the TV2Mobile ’06 Conference and Exhibition in Silicon Valley

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - October 25, 2006 - Penthera Technologies, Inc. and Siano Mobile Silicon today announced a collaboration agreement that enables open-standard, DVB-H and DAB-IP mobile digital TV (MDTV) reception with a single, integrated platform. The joint Penthera-Siano platform will be demonstrated in Siano’s booth (#800) at the TV2Mobile ’06 Conference and Exhibition, taking place at the Santa Clara Convention Center, Oct. 30 - Nov. 2.

The two companies have developed a reference design that combines Penthera Viewer™, an advanced, mobile broadcast client application, with Siano’s SMS1010, the world’s only multi-band, multi-standard, single-chip receiver for MDTV. The joint platform is focused on significantly reducing mobile device manufacturers’ development time and costs, simplifying the process from development to commercialization, and increasing the addressable mobile broadcast markets for a single design.

“This pre-integrated, validated platform enables device manufacturers to easily implement best-in-class mobile broadcast functionality into upcoming mobile devices, with less development time and risk,” said Alon Ironi, Siano CEO. “Penthera’s field-proven and commercially-available solution provides a clean API that makes integration very simple, along with support services to back up their efforts.”

Penthera Viewer, which is part of Penthera’s mobile broadcast software suite, enables mobile phones, PDAs, laptops and other mobile devices to receive DVB-H and DAB-IP-based TV, radio and media broadcasts. Complete with electronic service guide functionality, program alerts and CA/DRM interoperability, Penthera Viewer provides end users with a Virtual Set Top Box™ on their mobile device - a familiar paradigm easily understood by anyone with home digital cable, terrestrial or satellite services.

“MDTV is projected to be a huge market. However there is already fragmentation with regard to the diversified standards and bands utilized globally,” said Dr. Jon Peddie, president of Jon Peddie Research, the multimedia research firm in Tiburon, Calif. “A multi-mode solution, such as the one developed through Siano’s SMS1010 collaboration with Penthera’s Viewer, will provide economy of scale ecosystem for ODMs and OEMs.”

“Mobile broadcast device manufacturers are looking for multi-mode solutions that reduce development overhead, minimize manufacturing costs and shorten time to market,” stated Sam Leinhardt, CEO of Penthera. “Siano’s field-proven, multi-receiver solution that has been integrated and tested with Penthera software helps manufacturers meet many of their optimization goals at reduced risk and cost.”

Siano’s SMS1010 is the industry’s only low-cost, ultra-low-power, quad-band, multi-standard, single-chip receiver. A combination of RF tuner and demodulator, the SMS1010 supports DVB-H, DVB-T, DAB, DAB-IP and T-DMB mobile digital standards in various spectrum ranges from 170MHz up to 1680MHz.
