Powerful new features for SME document manager DocMoto

CHLSoftware announces the release of version two of its popular document management system, DocMoto. Now completely integrated into Windows Explorer, DocMoto v.2 is as simple to use as copying a file to a network drive.

Neil Cameron, marketing manager, says: “Organisations are keen to reap the benefits of document management but most systems fall into disuse because employees don’t have the necessary skills to use them. With DocMoto integrated into Windows Explorer, anybody who has ever copied a file to a network drive, or even copied images from a digital camera to their PC at home, has all the skills they need to use our product"

CHL Software believes this tight level of integration with Windows clearly separates its product from browser based offerings. “Most document management products are browser based. We believe browser based systems aren’t ideal for dealing with files. For example, it’s tricky to work with multiple files, and useful features such as drag and drop are difficult to implement,” says Cameron.

As well as integrating its software into Windows, CHL has also added a number of other powerful features, including full text or content searching and meta data support. Cameron explains: “Thanks to our full text searching, DocMoto users can now search the content as well as the titles of their documents. As standard, we support all Microsoft Office file formats with other formats being available too"

The new capabilities add to the existing DocMoto feature set which includes file management through check-in and check-out, full revision histories, powerful security and a sophisticated change notification system.

Cameron concludes: “With DocMoto v.2, a business can reap the benefits of document management in minutes. All it needs to do is simply drag and drop the contents of its shared network drive on to a DocMoto server and, immediately, its content will be completely revision controlled, secure, accessible across the web, and fully searchable, not only by title but by contents or meta data"
