Blow a Kiss For a Good Cause PeaceKeeper’s Million Kisses Campaign Helps Raise Funds & Awareness

WEBWIRE

October 2006 – PeaceKeeper Cause-Metics has launched the Million Kisses Campaign to raise money to fund education for women and girls who are victims of sexually exploitive situations and slavery. It was PeaceKeeper founder, Jody Weiss’ recent trip to Thailand and Cambodia that taught her about the important role that education plays in helping women who have left the sex trade or indentured servitude to succeed. The campaign is supported by actress Julia Ormond, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime’s (UNODC) Goodwill Ambassador for the Abolition of Slavery and Human Trafficking. An awareness video featuring Julia Ormond is being played at Whole Foods and other PeaceKeeper Cause-Metics retailers, and it shows how the proceeds from buying just a few PeaceKeeper products can help educate a girl and give her economic options. According to Weiss, “PeaceKeeper builds a bridge in the land-of-plenty to women who can’t even afford a lipstick.”

Every dollar that is raised through the Million Kisses Campaign is placed into the PeaceKeeper Fund and will be used to give financial support to programs that help women and girls find safe alternatives to a life of indentured servitude. Celebrities who have donated kisses to this cause include actresses Daryl Hannah, Julia Ormond and Ana Gasteyer.

How it works
