Operitel emphasizes their commitment to supporting customers using the LearnFlex™ LMS by hiring Dr. Susan Wurtele, a recent recipient of the prestigious 3M Teaching Fellowship.

Peterborough, ON: October 23rd, 2006 – Operitel Corporation, creators of the award winning LearnFlex™ Learning Management System (LMS) announced today that Dr. Susan Wurtele is joining the company in an advisory role as the Director of Online Learning Technology.

Dr. Wurtele is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography at Trent University and a Member of the Graduate Faculty, Frost Centre for Canadian Studies and Native Studies. Dr. Wurtele has been recognized for excellence in her commitment to teaching, most recently as a winner of the 3M Teaching Fellowship.

The 3M Teaching Fellows are sponsored by 3M Canada, Macleans Magazine & the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. 3M Teaching Fellows throughout Canada represent a broad range of disciplines and work collaboratively to enhance teaching and learning at their own institutions and through larger initiatives supported by the Society. They also work collectively through the Council of 3M Teaching Fellows advocating policies and initiatives to enhance teaching and learning in Canadian universities. Since 1986 when the award was introduced, 208 Canadian university professors, representing 41 different universities, have been recognized as 3M Teaching Fellowship Award recipients.

Additional teaching Honours for Dr. Wurtele, include: Recipient of the Symons Award for Excellence in Teaching, Trent University, 1999; Merit Award for Teaching Excellence, Trent University, 2000; Recipient of the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations, Teaching Award, Citation for Outstanding Contribution to University Teaching, 2005.
