More than 200 medical, healthcare, and psychology e-book resources from OUP now live on Books@Ovid

New York, NY (October 4, 2006) – Ovid, part of Wolters Kluwer Health and a global leader in electronic medical, scientific, and academic research information solutions, is pleased to announce at this week’s Frankfurt Book Fair that it has expanded its partnership with Oxford University Press (OUP) to add more than 180 titles in medicine, neurosciences, social and behavioral sciences to Books@Ovid. Books@Ovid is an industry leading e-books search and discovery platform for clinical, scientific and academic researchers, professionals, educators and students.

OUP is the largest university press in the world with centuries of experience providing highly-regarded and award-winning resources in neuro- and behavioral sciences, as well as genetics, palliative care, and epidemiology and public health. All titles are vetted by Delegates, subject matter experts who review for accuracy and currency, in a structure similar to the Don system at the college.

“Oxford University Press is recognized the world over for meticulously researched reference books written and reviewed by some of the most highly regarded, innovative thinkers in their fields,” said Scott MacFarland, Vice President of Publisher Relations and Content Operations for Ovid. “With natural language searching and sophisticated linking and browsing functionality, Books@Ovid makes these titles easily accessible to researchers, students, and professionals whenever and wherever they want.”

Among the new OUP books now available on Books@Ovid are nearly 150 titles in neurology, clinical psychology, developmental psychology, and sensation that make up the Brain Sciences collection. These books are ideal for health professionals in a clinical setting as well as academic researchers and students. Key titles in this collection include Neurobiology of Mental Illness, The Science of False Memory, Human Brain Anatomy in Computerized Images, Fifty Neurologic Cases from Mayo Clinic, and The Middle East: A Cultural Psychology.

With the addition of these new titles, Ovid offers more than 200 OUP books on Books@Ovid, including the acclaimed Oxford Textbook of Medicine.

Books@Ovid combines premium content with powerful search and discovery technology for a comprehensive feature-rich information search experience. Natural language searching makes queries quick and easy. Since Books@Ovid is fully integrated with an institution’s e-resources, users can link directly to any other content resource referenced in a book. An expandable table of contents, back-of-the-book indexing, and recent platform enhancements simplify navigation. In addition, users always have access to a title’s most current edition.

For clinicians, Books@Ovid titles purchased by an institution are also accessible through ClinicalResource@Ovid, a clinical decision support tool that supports the need for a single source of evidenced-based information to answer clinical questions.

More than 600 titles are currently available on Books@Ovid representing a distinguished selection of high-quality content from today’s premier publishers, including Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, McGraw-Hill, Pharmaceutical Press, and WebMD, in addition to Oxford University Press.
