KODAK i1200, i1300 Series Scanners Will Turn Heads of Users Looking to Increase Office Productivity

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Oct. 3 -- Today’s business people are managing an ever-growing number of documents. Add regulatory compliance issues to the mix, and it’s easy to see why distributed desktop document scanning is becoming an integral part of every business environment.

The KODAK i1210 and i1220 Scanners for the workgroup segment, and the KODAK i1310 and i1320 Scanners for the departmental segment—now going forth into the marketplace—are sure to turn heads of those looking for distributed desktop document scanners to improve office productivity. They achieve high image quality as quickly and easily as possible—all while keeping the footprint and price point small.

“Gaining greater business process efficiencies by moving document capture to the point of creation is what’s driving growth with distributed and low-volume document scanners,” said Ron Glaz, Program Director at IDC, a leading industry analyst firm. “Kodak’s i1200 and i1300 series are feature rich, like production scanners, but packaged in smaller footprints designed for distributed settings found in typical office environments.”

The industry likes what it sees. The KODAK i1220 Scanner earned AIIM Best of Show honors for a hardware capture product capturing 26 to 40 pages per minute. And, both the i1200 and i1300 Series garnered Editor’s Choice designations from Better Buys for Business in its 2006 Scan-to-File Guide.

“Having worked with dozens of scanners over the years, I can honestly say that the new KODAK scanners are going to change the way businesses work. For example, the KODAK 1320 Scanner delivers performance and capabilities to the desktop that are normally available in production level scanners. Because of this level of performance, the KODAK i1320 Scanner will make distributed capture a reality for many organizations and have a huge impact on business process improvement,” said Tom Talamantez, President, Transform Data Corporation, a full service provider of document scanning, software and support.

“At Kodak, we believe design innovation, performance and ease of use—hallmarks of our digital transformation—are critical to realizing benefits in increased productivity, efficiency, and flexibility for distributed desktop scanner users,” said Roger Markham, Product Marketing Manager for Distributed Capture and Integrated Imaging Products, US&C, Document Imaging, Graphic Communications Group. “As the industry awards attest, people are taking notice that these new scanners break with convention in terms of incomparable features, usability and high performance.”

The Kodak designed and manufactured scanners offer “three T’s” of features that are at the forefront of industry. Tilt and scan allows the user to adjust the scanner to operate in any available workspace; Touch refers to smart touch scanning for single touch button operation to send scanned images to network, email, print or a favorite desktop application in a number of file formats including searchable PDF; and Tether refers to the attachable flatbed A4-size scanning accessory that connects to the scanner via tethered cable for imaging fragile or bound documents and furthers workplace placement options.

Each series offer simplex (i1210, i1310) and duplex (i1220, i1320) models and all include enhanced Perfect Page image processing technology for producing high-quality images with ease. The workgroup i1200 Series captures images at up to 30 pages or 60 images per minute, while the departmental i1300 Series offers a maximum speed of 60 pages or 120 images pages per minute, the fastest speed in this category.

“I was impressed with the demonstration of the new KODAK 1320 Scanner. As acurrentuser of the high-end KODAK i610 Scanners, I saw that many of the features of the i610 Scanner had been incorporated into the 1320 Scanner, said the Operations Manager for a major US financial firm. “Some of thesimilarfeatures are the roller assembles, the sheet feeders, and the most impressive was the ultrasonic multi-page detection system. The tilt feature that allows for continuous feed for larger jobs and adjusts to upright for regular use is also a great feature that makes the scanner a good choice for desk topuse to midrange scanner jobs. The unit is compact and very quiet. The ability to pre-program nine settings witha one-touch selection is a time saving feature for pre-defined document sets. I’ve already signed up to test the unit in a production setting when they become available.”

“The release of the i1200 and i1300 Series Scanners positions Kodak favorably in the fast growing desktop and workgroup market segments,” said Lenny Martin, Vice President and Managing Partner, NewWave Technologies, a nationwide distributor of document imaging, automated data storage, and CD/DVD duplication products and services. “These products complement and enhance Kodak’s current family of scanner products, giving customers outstanding products that address all budgetary requirements.”

In addition to functionality and performance, the i1200 and i1300 Series Scanners offer maximum affordability. The i1210 and i1220 have U.S. list prices of $799 and $1,199 respectively while the i1310 and i1320 list at $1,595 and $2,395 respectively.

The new product line is backed with a one-year warranty from KODAK Service & Support, the benchmark service provider for the document imaging industry and Best Support Organization in the 2006 International Business Awards.
