Cisco Networking Solution Meets Demands of Rapidly Growing Company and Supports Scalability of Millions of Viewers for Years to Come

SAN JOSE, Calif., September 27, 2006 - Cisco Systems® announced today that PureVideo Networks, publisher of popular video websites StupidVideos.com and GrindTV.com, is one of the first companies to adopt the Cisco® Catalyst® 6500 Series Switch with the Application Control Engine (ACE).

The Cisco solution offers a high level of scalability to support PureVideo’s aggressive business goals, including the addition of a new video vertical, PureVideo Search (www.purevideo.com), the Web’s first video meta search engine. The ACE module, in combination with the Catalyst 6500, provides security, application acceleration, and network management capabilities in a single solution, and was easily integrated into PureVideo Networks’ network infrastructure in August. The ACE module offers integrated load-balancing, security, and management functionality to meet the high demands of the viral video company’s young tech-savvy audience.

The Catalyst 6500 Series Switch and ACE module also offer new levels of operational flexibility to IT with virtual partitions, which provide companies, like PureVideo Networks with complete control over their entire IT infrastructure. This unique capability allows PureVideo Networks to react more quickly to viewers’ traffic and bandwidth needs. The solution is significantly less expensive than other options and lowers operational costs because of the decreased demand on IT managers to operate separate appliances and their accompanying overlay network.

“PureVideo Networks online destinations currently serve seven million unique users a month, all of whom have high expectations for experiencing quality video quickly, seamlessly, and through multiple devices,” said Greg Morrow, president and co-founder of PureVideo Networks. “In the broadband video industry, a significant amount of data is both input and output, so it’s particularly important to have an affordable network infrastructure. That compounded with the addition of our new products this fall, made the Cisco solution by far the best option in the marketplace today.”

The Catalyst 6500 with ACE module simplifies application infrastructure by combining the functionality of multiple application delivery appliances into a single module, including server load balancing and off-load, Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol, security, and application optimization capabilities. The tight integration of the ACE module with the Catalyst 6500 Series Switch enables PureVideo Networks to easily and cost effectively save valued footprint and lower data center power requirements. The ACE service module adds to the Catalyst 6500 Series’ growing service module portfolio, which includes firewall, voice, network management, virtual private network (VPN), and wireless services.

The Catalyst 6500 Series Switch is the IT industry’s most successful networking switch in history. It is Cisco’s strategic, flagship switching platform and delivers innovative secure, converged services from the data center to the networking core to the premises wiring closet. The Catalyst 6500 is a technology enabler of Cisco’s Service Oriented Networking Architecture (SONA), an architectural framework that guides customers and delivers more advanced networking services to accelerate applications, business processes, and profitability.

“PureVideo Networks is a perfect example of today’s fast-paced company. These kinds of companies have aggressive goals for growth and need IT solutions that are flexible to manage, easy to deploy, and scale to meet their growing needs,” said John McCool, senior vice president and general manager of the Internet Switching Business Unit at Cisco. “Cisco will continue to offer solutions like the Catalyst 6500 with the ACE module that easily integrate into the network infrastructure, so our customers can respond quickly to their changing needs at lower costs.”
