SEPTEMBER 26, 2006 - MADRID – CARRIER ETHERNET WORLD CONGRESS BOOTH #33 -- Lucent Technologies today announced that its SONET and SDH multiservice provisioning platforms (MSPPs) have received certification for compliance with Metro Ethernet Forum’s “MEF 14” specifications for metro Ethernet traffic management. The certification process is designed to evaluate platforms for their ability to support bandwidth management and performance criteria needed for Ethernet quality of service (QoS) and service level agreements (SLAs) in business and residential “triple play” voice, data and video services such as IPTV, video on demand, voice over IP and more.

The Lucent platforms successfully passed a rigorous set of tests, confirming support for three sets of services defined by the Metro Ethernet Forum, including Ethernet Private Line (EPL) Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) and Ethernet LAN (ELAN) services.

Included in the testing were Lucent’s Metropolis® ADM, AMS, AM, AMU, DMX, and DMXtend platforms. All participating products were tested by Iometrix test laboratory and have been certified to comply with the requirements established in the MEF 14 "Abstract Test Suite for Traffic Management Phase 1. The Lucent Ethernet Router family of products completed this certification in June of this year.
