Mobile Copier Ideal for Tradeshows, Satellite Offices, and Mobile Businesses

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., September 25, 2006 – For the traveling business professional, Canon U.S.A., Inc., the nation’s market share brand leader in black-and-white and color laser copier/printer solutionsi, today introduced the new Canon PC170. The portable device serves as a easily transported personal copier providing high-quality black-and-white duplicates in a lightweight compact design.

“For the user on the go, the PC170 provides an easily transported copying solution,” said Tod Pike, senior vice president, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “On a desk, in a trade show booth, or on a tabletop, the PC 170 delivers quality copy output whenever and wherever our customers want.”

Weighing in at less than 19 pounds, the Canon PC170 folds into a sleek, compact shape resembling a briefcase complete with handle for easy carrying. The Canon PC170 features Canon’s patented RAPID Fusing System, which provides instant warm-up eliminating long waiting time before copying. With no warm-up time required, the Canon PC170 can begin copying immediately at speeds of up to four copies-per-minute (cpm) for letter-size paper and comes equipped with a 50-sheet stack tray that accepts postcard to letter-size paper.

The new Canon PC170 offers virtually maintenance-free operation with Canon’s exclusive Single Cartridge System, containing the drum, development unit and toner, for performance that requires little-to-no maintenance at just pennies-per-copy.

The Canon PC170 personal copier also offers tremendous versatility, copying onto a variety of papers, including stationary, postcards, colored paper, transparencies and labels. Copy quality is exceptional with a choice of automatic or manual exposure and automatic shut-off.

In order to effectively conserve energy, Canon has built an automatic shut-off function into the Canon PC170, designed to automatically turn off the copier after idling un-used for 5 1/2 minutes. These energy-saving attributes enable the Canon PC170 to meet the ENERGY STAR® guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy. The EPA established the International ENERGY STAR Program in 1992 to help prevent global warming by promoting the development and use of energy-efficient products.

The Canon PC170 will be available at national retailers in the fourth quarter 2006 at a suggested retail price of $149.
