Advanced Workload Automation Solutions for Mainframes and Distributed Environments Capture Nearly 20 Percent of $1.33 Billion Market

ISLANDIA, N.Y., September 20, 2006 – CA (NYSE: CA) today announced it has been recognized as the global market share leader in job scheduling software by analyst firm IDC for the fourth year in a row. According to the IDC report, entitled “Worldwide System Operations Software 2005 Vendor Shares,” CA’s job scheduling and workload automation solutions captured a 19.8 percent share of this $1.33 billion global market.*

Growing job scheduling pressures are driving the need for event-driven automation that aligns workload execution with business policies. CA has been evolving its job scheduling products into workload automation solutions that optimize service levels and boost operational productivity. These solutions help organizations automate the management of business policies, events and real-time processes across all applications and platforms from a single point of control.

“IT organizations are under more pressure than ever to streamline core business processes that often depend on close coordination between multiple applications,” said Louis Grosskopf, senior vice president at CA. “CA’s industry-leading job scheduling and workload automation solutions uniquely address this challenge by enabling precise choreography of key computing tasks across mainframe and distributed systems. The sophistication, broad platform support, and overall ease-of-use of these solutions have made CA the vendor-of-choice in this market for enterprises around the world.”

CA’s job scheduling and advanced workload automation solutions include Unicenter AutoSys Job Management for distributed environments and Unicenter CA-7 Job Management for mainframes. In May, CA augmented its product portfolio with the acquisition of Cybermation, a provider of modernized workload automation solutions across multiple platforms.

According to the IDC report, “this was the fourth consecutive year of positive growth for this market; and a sign that users are continuing to invest in this technology.”
