Matilda Joslyn Gage and Her Fight for Women’s Rights

One of the many unsung heroes of the fight for women’s suffrage is Matilda Joslyn Gage. This exceptional activist is the subject of Susan Savion’s book Quoting Matilda: The Words and History of a Forgotten Suffragist. The book pays tribute to Gage and memorializes her contributions that made a positive difference for women all over the world. Besides quotes from Gage and others, the book includes photographs and historical and biographical information.

Gage was raised in a family of abolitionists. Women’s rights activist New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand endorses this book with a quote of her own in the introduction. The environment she grew up in molded her into a fearless advocate for social justice and equality.
