In 1969, four recently discharged military men purchased an old Volkswagen and embarked on a road trip before going back to their homes. One of them was Robby McLeod, a former Marine. In the present day, Robby meets Jimmy Johnson, a man living an ordinary life, and takes him on a journey to find his other companions from forty years ago. In this trip, Robby shares the experiences that changed his life forever—the experiences on the VW in 1969.
This Volkswagen story is a mix of romance, action, adventure, and reflection. The trip home that changed Robby’s life also changed Jimmy’s in the present day. Walter Hunt says, “It is a timeless story that everyone who cares about our veterans should read.”
