In The Gentle Blue Light of the Dog Star is a personal narrative of the experiences of a surviving veteran of the US Merchant Marine during World War II and the Korean War.  This work starts with a clear account of his family’s settling in the West.  It vividly tells the growth of his family and how they faced the crises of their time. One of Chuck’s uncles, a small child, dies of beriberi while riding in a wagon train.

Farritor’s book was displayed last May 11–13, 2016 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. BEA is the biggest gathering of booksellers, librarians, retailers, publishers, rights, licensing, and book industry professionals in North America.
