In a time in which entire families are leaving their home countries in search of a better future, ¡Mamá Cuéntame Porqué Viniste! is entertaining, aside from being informative and thought-provoking. The young ones should always know their roots, and this book is a good way to relay that story.

Silvia Juárez-Marazzo’s book, ¡Mamá Cuéntame Porqué Viniste!: Mommy, tell me, why did you come here! makes an appearance at the 23rd Beijing International Book Fair. LitFire Publishing featured the book from August 24 to 28, 2016, at China International Exhibition Center in Chaoyang Qu, Beijing, China.

The book tells the story of a Latino American mother who migrated in hopes of a better life, through her child’s playful but determined questioning. The book will help other immigrant mothers to tell their children about their origins and dreams. Leaving home is never easy, but this story embraces the difficulty that comes with it and highlights how determination and love conquers adversity.

“I dedicate this cuento [story] to the unaccompanied immigrant children. I think that this would be the wish of these amazing mothers. We all search and deserve to live in a safe place where the dream for a better life comes true,” the author says.
