“Strong prose and rich detail bring new life to these two American heroes and convincingly imagine their unique cultures and childhoods. Each character is given a vivid backstory, which manages to avoid overly glamorizing either man’s legacy.”

LitFire Publishing participated on the 23rd Beijing International Book Fair from August 24 to 28, 2016. Among the books featured was Elsie S. Wilmerding’s This Land Is Mine! A Story of Crazy Horse and George A. Custer. The event was held at China International Exhibition Center in Chaoyang Qu, Beijing, China.

The story revolves around two great leaders, George Armstrong Custer of the United States Seventh Cavalry and Crazy Horse of the Native American Lakota tribe. The cavalry invaded in hopes of wealth and glory, while the natives fought for everything they held dear.

According to a BlueInk review of the book, “Strong prose and rich detail bring new life to these two American heroes and convincingly imagine their unique cultures and childhoods. Each character is given a vivid backstory, which manages to avoid overly glamorizing either man’s legacy.”

This Land Is Mine! A Story of Crazy Horse and George A. Custer gives young readers a fun way to study history. Though the content combines fiction and nonfiction, overall, the book is informative and awe-inspiring.

By introducing her book to a foreign market, Wilmerding certainly gained more audience. The Asian publishing industry is a good way, not only for writers, but also for readers to widen their horizons.
