Historical Fiction Features a Retelling of Queen Isabeau of Bavariaís Rise and Downfall
Amelia V. Rogers recreates the story of one of Franceís most infamous royals.
ďThe novel draws its authenticity from the authorís solid grasp of history; it draws its energy from the story of a strong female leader in a manís world of war, intrigue, and all too frequent destruction.Ē
In a tale of royal conspiracy, intrigue, love, and war, a queen wages a war against enemy factions to secure her sonís claim to the throne. Set in fourteenth-century France, A Lady Crowned with Fleurs-de-Lys: A Historical Novel by Amelia V. Rogers retells the metamorphosis of the benevolent Princess Isabelle into the ruthless Isabeau of Bavaria.
Queen Isabeau features as the strong protagonist in A Lady Crowned with Fleurs-de-Lys. Isabeau becomes the regent to the heir apparent of France after her husband, King Charles VI, rapidly descends into madness. She takes control of a country on the verge of a civil war while fighting to keep other political parties from taking her sonís birthright. She uses her considerable charm and beauty to advance her cause through a series of lovers and other suitors. Unfairly, but perhaps understandably, she earns the reputation as an evil genius held in contrast with the purity of Joan of Arc as the other savior of the kingdom of France.
Amazon customer Ruth Harrison talks about the book, ďThe novel draws its authenticity from the authorís solid grasp of history; it draws its energy from the story of a strong female leader in a manís world of war, intrigue, and all too frequent destruction.Ē
