Here’s a personal account of an ex-lieutenant who was in the army during World War II. After more than sixty years, Earle W. Jacobs recounts his years of service in the army and puts into writing his unforgettable experiences during the war between the Axis powers and Allied forces in this memoir.

Yes, They Do—“Gang Aft Agley!”  narrates the events and the circumstances that resulted in  his landing on Utah Beach,  one of the places on which the Allied forces attacked Normandy, situated on the Western coast of France. He reveals his vivid recollection of the war during the Normandy invasion: “As I watched the men climbing down the nets from the Llangiby Castle into the little tank lander alongside, our transportation to shore, I became convinced I was going to be the one to lose his grip, fall into the ocean and be crushed as the boats smashed together in the rough seas. I was a second lieutenant at the time and I was in charge of this boatload for now and therefore I was the last one to literally, fall into place.”

For the information of book enthusiasts, Jacobs’s book was displayed at the 2016 Beijing International Book Fair from August 24 to 29 at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing, China.
