County of San Diego Board of Supervisors awards $5,000 grant to support clinical training program for hospice professionals
Grant will help create a successful hospice-training environment
The County of San Diego Board of Supervisors awarded The Elizabeth Hospice with a $5,000 grant from the Neighborhood Reinvestment Program to support a clinical training learning lab for hospice professionals, that includes traditional classroom training and patient care simulations. The learning lab, which resembles a patient’s home, will create a dynamic learning environment to support training in crisis management and provider-patient communication.
“The Elizabeth Hospice Learning Lab will provide our hospice clinicians with an opportunity to enhance their professional skills in a controlled environment,” said Jan Jones, President and CEO of The Elizabeth Hospice. “Special thanks to the County of San Diego Board of Supervisors for their generous support of hospice care to San Diego communities.”
The corporate offices for The Elizabeth Hospice are based within District 3 (Escondido), represented by County Supervisor Dave Roberts. Furthermore, The Elizabeth Hospice services are provided throughout the County and the organization is considered the longest-running nonprofit hospice and palliative care provider in the region, serving nearly 500 seriously ill adults and children each day throughout San Diego and the Inland Empire.
