AnesthesiaOS™ provides Preoperative screening for Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting.
AnesthesiaOS™ selected Office Add-ins along with Microsoft Azure Machine Learning to provide Preoperative screening for Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting.
HOUSTON, Texas, June 20, 2016 –Medical Information Records, LLC (MIR), creator of AnesthesiaOS™, a Microsoft Azure cloud-based Anesthesia Information Management System (AIMS) has sought to standardize care by focusing on the mobility and the replication of an enhanced patient care experience and not the mobility of a particular device and/or workstation. Today AnesthesiaOSTM announced that they have utilized Microsoft Office Add-ins and Microsoft Azure Machine Learning to build on its smarter workflow by standardizing the preoperative screening process for postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV), by assessing the risk of PONV and subsequently placing notifications of high risk back into AnesthesiaOSTM for decision support for providers.
“Healthcare organizations are transitioning away from the legacy decentralized model to a centralized care delivery model that strives to ensure compliance, reduce costs, improve efficiencies and improve the standardization of care which ultimately improves the patient care experience and clinical outcomes,” said Dr. Christopher Ray, Chief Technology Officer for MIR. “Office Add-ins has provided a way for providers to standardize their screening process for PONV with very little disruption in workflow.”
Anesthesia providers are required to report each anesthetic procedure for patients 18 years and older that have a certain number of risk factors for PONV. For many providers, a smarter workflow is needed because the preoperative instructions for many patients come exclusively from the surgeon and not the anesthesiologist with whom they may meet only moments prior to surgery. Office Add-ins allows anesthesiaOS providers in both hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers to truly provide an enterprise wide solution to address fragmented workflows as it relates to screening for PONV.
“Improving the standardization of care is essential to improving clinical outcomes and the overall patient care experience,” said Laura Wallace, Vice President of US Health and Life Sciences, Microsoft. “We’re excited to be working together with the team at AnesthesiaOS to help doctors and hospitals utilize technology to improve the quality of care and deliver better outcomes for patients.”
Accessible in operating rooms and medical offices via a web portal, personal computer or tablet, AnesthesiaOS™ creates a smarter workflow by enabling improved patient care while still maintaining documentation and compliance requirements. AnesthesiaOS also utilizes Azure Machine Learning to analyze each patient care episode to gain additional insights to sharpen its predictive models to assess surgical risks.
AnesthesiaOS™ was developed by anesthesiologist with the vision of advancing medicine by creating smarter workflows. AnesthesiaOS™ is a cloud-based EHR that seeks to standardize care by focusing on the mobility and replication of an enhanced patient care experience and not the mobility of a particular device and/or workstation. AnesthesiaOS™ enhances the point of care, not control it by allowing providers to easily complete an anesthesia record while focusing on the quality of patient care.
