EMLab P&K’s Chicago Legionella Testing Lab Now CDC ELITE Certified Lab
EMLab P&K’s Legionella laboratory in Chicago becomes the company’s fifth lab certified by CDC ELITE for Legionella testing. EMLab P&K leads the industry with the largest capacity for Legionella testing in the U.S.
“Our CDC ELITE membership affirms EMLab P&K’s reputation as one of the nation’s leading Legionella labs for quality and accuracy. This also confirms what our clients know – they can trust the Legionella testing results from EMLab P&K,” says Dave Gallup, Co-Founder of EMLab P&K.
EMLab P&K, a TestAmerica company and the leading commercial indoor air quality (IAQ) laboratory in North America, announces that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has certified EMLab P&K’s Chicago laboratory for Legionella testing through the CDC ELITE Program. The Chicago lab is EMLab P&K’s fifth location to achieve the distinction of becoming a CDC ELITE Legionella testing lab. EMLab P&K’s CDC ELITE certified laboratories also include: Phoenix, AZ, Fort Lauderdale, FL, Marlton, NJ, and Houston, TX.
“With the dramatic increase in outbreaks across the country, proactively managing the risk of Legionella bacteria is more cost effective than responding to an outbreak retroactively. We are here to help.”
According to the CDC, between 8,000 and 18,000 people are hospitalized with Legionnaires’ disease in the United States each year. Legionnaires’ disease is a legitimate public health concern as its fatality rate during an outbreak ranges from 5% to 30% in those who contract the disease. EMLab P&K helps companies and organizations with risk management through preventative Legionella testing and analysis, and has been testing for Legionella bacteria for nearly two decades. As the industry leader, EMLab P&K has the largest capacity for Legionella testing in the U.S.
EMLab P&K’s clients can now send water samples for Legionella analysis to the Chicago lab located at: 1815 West Diehl Road, Suite 800, Naperville, IL 60563. For more information about the Chicago lab’s Legionella testing services, please contact Mike Deese, Regional Account Manager, at (800) 650-1835.

CDC’s Environmental Legionella Isolation Techniques Evaluation (ELITE) Program is the first proficiency testing program in the United States for environmental laboratories to test their Legionella isolation techniques against standardized samples. The goal of the ELITE program is to ensure that industry practices achieve the highest standards and reliability. The ELITE program grades laboratories for correctly identifying, quantifying, and serotyping Legionella samples.
