“a thriller with a paranormal twist. . . [and] the best writing here occurs during the action scenes. Averette’s descriptions of the avalanche, a tunnel cave-in, and the story’s climatic denouement are taut and suspenseful.”

Beauford E. Averette’s novel, The Adralack Crack on Mt. Baker, thrilled fans of fiction at Bologna Children’s Book Fair last April 4–7, 2016, at Bologna Fair Centre, Piazza Costituzione.

In the book, four university professors from rural Washington dare a winter climb on Mount Baker, get caught in an avalanche, and find refuge in a nearby cave. When one companion disintegrates in an alien force field, the other three spend two ensuing summers finding out what happened to him.

BlueInk Review mentions that the novel conveys “a thriller with a paranormal twist. . . [and] the best writing here occurs during the action scenes. Averette’s descriptions of the avalanche, a tunnel cave-in, and the story’s climatic denouement are taut and suspenseful.”

A brilliantly crafted novel, The Adralack Crack on Mt. Baker amuses readers of all ages because of its carefully developed plot entangled with practical lessons about life.
