Lessons Learned from a Mild Schizophrenic

Shortly after As Life Goes On was republished in September 2015, it was displayed in the 2015 Guadalajara Book Fair.

Robert Contino’s battle with mild schizophrenia urged Rosalie to pen his life and struggles. In As Life Goes On, Rosalie narrates her brother’s struggles, in the hope of making people aware of the prejudice that comes hand in hand with the condition.

Through her book, Contino seeks to empower the families and friends of schizophrenia patients, and she hopes that the general public will have a better understanding of the condition. As a sister, Rosalie sees the book as a happy reminder of the life that Robert lived and the lessons he has left her.

With the help of indie publisher LitFire Publishing, Rosalie successfully shared her brother’s story at the 2015 Guadalajara International Book Fair held last November 28 to December 5, 2015, at Expo Guadalajara exhibition center.

About the Author

Rosalie H. Contino, PhD, is an Italian American who was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Fordham University. She then pursued master’s and doctorate degrees in educational theater and costume design at New York University. She is a playwright, a costume designer, and a lecturer.
