With more than thirty-five years of teaching, Koons demonstrates successful methods and techniques she has developed to make reading both easy and fun. She provides a profound discussion on the five stages of developing reading skills, the importance of incorporating play into the learning and reading process, the development from preschool to kindergarten, guidelines for teaching remedial reading, and instructions for studying methods.

How are reading skills developed? Marguerite Koons, a Reading Specialist, offered an answer in her book, Reading Is Easy.

Reading Is Easy is the fruit of Marguerite Koons’ belief that every child deserves the opportunity to learn how to read. It offers resources Koon has crafted over the years of teaching, including charts and games that turn reading into an interesting and fun experience. For instance, her main tools for nonreaders are Window Card and Vowel Ladder. She said, “Window Card teaches vowels accurately in self-directed increments. Spelling and all those troublesome rules are learned here. Vowel Ladder is an exciting game to be played by two or more which reinforces all that is presented in Window Card.”

Written for parents of young students and pre-school teachers, the book is also recommended for homeschool families, teachers of students having difficulty learning to read or students who are considered as poor readers, and any adult who might want to improve his reading and spelling skills. Therefore, the book is not only limited by demonstrating that reading is easy; it also validates that the ability to read can change a person’s life. As Koons declared, “My story guides teachers and parents to help their children learn to read and attain success in school and everyday life.”

Reading Is Easy will be featured at the 2015 Frankfurt Book Fair which will be held on October 14-18, 2015 at the Frankfurt Trade Fair grounds in Frankfurt, Germany. Check out the book along with several other materials during the whole event.
