Bangladesh’s Critic Killings Has Counterterrorism Expert Wondering If This Can Happen In U.S.

Pearland, Texas – WEBWIRE

Troubling, violent murders of critics of radical Islam
are happening in Bangladesh due to the lack of the government’s response
regarding freedom of speech and expression.  Terrorist organizations such as
Al Qaeda and ISIS understand that if they violently target the slightest
opposition to their interpretation of Islam, there will be less of it because
of fear.

For instance, “Black Lives Matter” was an admirable slogan and organization at
the beginning, intended to bring to light a perceived social injustice.  This
movement has begun targeting all law enforcement to the extent of protecting
the felons and crimes our laws are intended to suppress. When a government
protects a section of the citizenry to the exclusion and risk to others, like
Bangladesh and yes, our own Government in some cases, the safety of we, the
people are at risk and our rights are threatened.

“It grieves me that the Bangladesh government cannot protect its own people,
or at least even make a pretense of protecting them. I suspect that some of
our own U.S. law enforcement officers are less inclined to use lethal force on
a black felon except in extreme self-defense, even at the risk of letting the
felon get away with a serious crime and putting the public at risk.  It takes
a brave person to identify the wrongs of a violent group, but I am glad there
are those who prefer to speak the truth, even at the risk of their
well-being", said Counterterrorism Expert Robert H. Sholly, Colonel (USA
Ret.)

If "we the people” in the United States of America are not watchful, the
attitudes of the Bangladesh government could well transfer to politicians in
the U.S. Government who are sworn to protect and defend. Our own government in
some cases and our safety are at risk and our rights are most definitely
threatened.

Sholly lived approximately 20 years in cultures where terrorism is a common
occurrence and understands the use of “fear” as a tactic for influencing
actions and activities. Sholly has almost 45 years of counterterrorism
training and experience while serving in the military and is a Nobel Peace
Prize Laureate 1988 as a member of the UN Peacekeeping Forces.

Robert H. Sholly gives speeches nationwide regarding national and domestic
counterterrorism and performs security assessments. He is available to speak
on topics that range from Violence in the Workplace, Public Places and Home to
Security, The Unavoidable Necessity – Guard Your Organization and Family
with Personal Safety Measures for Uncertain Times and others by
