Santa Monica, Ca - pic.tv, an internet based, multi-platform content network headquartered in Los Angeles today announced a May 7 screening of the award winning documentary “Lost Angels – Skid Row is My Home”.  The screening will be followed by a panel discussion on the film’s topic of mental health, entitled “What’s working? What’s not? What can we do better?”

pic.tv is simultaneously kicking off a national mental health initiative under the moniker #imtalkingaboutit. The “Lost Angels” screening is a pilot program that pic.tv will replicate across Los Angeles, the state and eventually the country using media as a starting point to the conversation. “Mental health issues plague millions of Americans everyday, especially people from diverse communities. NAMI research states:  Diverse communities face many barriers such as higher levels of stigma, misinformation about mental health and language that prevent them from receiving care.“ Said Richard Cummings Jr., President and CEO of pic.tv “With #imtalkingaboutit we’re encouraging anyone affected by or interested in mental illness to come out and learn about the resources that are available.”

Throughout the event, mental health care professionals will be available to answer general questions and provide help guidance. Confirmed supporters in attendance include LAC-DMH (Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health), Skid Row Housing Trust and LA Care Health Plan

The “Lost Angels” screening will be held at 10AM on May 7, 2016 at the Santa Monica Public Library Main Branch – Martin Luther King Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public. Complimentary refreshments provided by Peet’s Coffee & Tea. The post screening panel discussion will be streamed live on the pic.tv Facebook.
