The two weeks covering New Orleans Jazz Fest offer more great bands in one compact city, all day & all night, every year…than anywhere else in the world. These bands look forward to this more than anything all year. When they all get together, they feed off the energy of their peers, the raucous New Orleans music fans, and the party vibe which is like nowhere else on Earth. This is what makes New Orleans Jazz Fest so special…and the world’s best music festival.

New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival takes over the Crescent City April 22 - May 1, 2016. A multitude of musicians, both local and international acts, turn the city of New Orleans into one enormous music festival. See the official festival lineup at http://lineup.nojazzfest.com/.

“A trip to New Orleans Jazz Fest has got to be #1 on the bucket list for passionate fans of Jazz, Funk, Soul, Brass Bands and the distinctive music of New Orleans because bands come from all over the U.S. to play their hearts out for the most appreciative music fans in the country — in America’s most exciting music town,” says Joe Gatto, curator of the music blog Funkish.

New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is currently held during the day, between the hours of 11am and 7pm, at the Fair Grounds Race Course, a horse racing track located in historic Mid-City. It takes place on the last weekend of April (Friday-Sunday) and the first weekend of May (Thursday-Sunday) each year.

New Orleans Jazz Fest, held annually since 1970, is a major tourist destination. The economic importance for New Orleans is rivaled only by Mardi Gras. The event brings to the city $300 million annually.

To keep up with everything related to New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, its official radio station, WWOZ has live broadcasts from Jazz Fest, plus an array of educational & inspirational programming dedicated to New Orleans music and culture.

As star-studded as the line up is on the main stage over the course of 7 full days, the party happens all night, every night, throughout the entire city of New Orleans for almost two weeks. Exciting concerts take place in the myriad music clubs, theaters, and intimate bars of New Orleans after the main festival at the Fair Grounds, and all during the week between.

One can follow the music guides listed at http://www.funkish.audio/new-orleans-jazz-fest/ for the listings of after-hours shows, and the directory of concerts in New Orleans happening during the week.

Another notable event is the first-ever NOLA Crawfish Festival, which highlights some of New Orleans’ finest musicians, food, and craft beer at the NOLA Brewing & Tap Room April 25-27. It features talent from some of the most prominent artists to emerge from the Crescent City in recent years.
