School Districts Now Have the Ability to Create IEPs Online and Align Student Achievement to Standards From a Variety of Assessment Data
SAN DIEGO, March 30, 2005 -- EDmin.com, Inc., the leading provider of solutions for managing academic performance for K-12 schools and districts, announced the release of their newest application, Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Center. The ESE Center features the IEP Manager, an application that greatly reduces the efforts of district special education staff to complete student individualized education plans. Housed in a web environment, the IEP Manager can be accessed from any location, at any time, without the need for an Intranet connection often required of paper-based forms or other electronic documents. The new version release comes after extensive testing and enables school districts to prepare student IEPs online, develop customized forms, and enable multiple special education staff members to work on different parts of the IEP simultaneously. Thus far, over 25,000 teachers have been trained to use the ESE application. The application can be used alone, or bundled with EDmin’s core product, INFORM(TM), to track student performance from a variety of assessment data including, but not limited to high stakes state testing, district assessments, and classroom performance. School districts now have the capacity to create their own IEPs and IEP-related forms in an online environment. The forms can be created in Spanish or English, as determined by the district’s needs. Both INFORM(TM) and the ESE application were designed around teacher workflow processes and provide the user with an intuitive interface (Logo/Header: http://www.ereleases.com/pr/2005-edmin.jpg).

The release of ESE Center’s IEP Manager version 1.0 further strengthens EDmin.com’s position as a market leader in Web-based performance management systems that facilitate continuous improvement of student achievement for K-12 education. Additional enhancements to the IEP Manager are expected later in 2005, with a specific focus on reporting improvements. Other INFORM(TM) applications that can be used in conjunction with the ESE application are:

- Staff Development
- Standards
- Online Portfolio
- Calendar
- Performance Center
- Instructional Management

“For Special Education staff, the amount of forms and paperwork necessary for a single IEP can be daunting. Creating an IEP form online streamlines the process immensely for teachers, and allows for greater flexibility,” according to CEO Peter Sibley. “State and Federal compliance requirements necessitate that IEPs include appropriate forms. With our new release, districts have the ability to create any number and type of forms, and now district special education administrators can build whatever form they need, whenever they need it.”

Sibley noted that it is typical for districts to use a version of a form for several years without updating it; but now with the capacity to create IEP reports and addendum forms at any juncture, districts can easily update forms on a more frequent basis, and in a more timely manner.

Prior to the release of the new version, the IEP Manager was extensively beta tested by the School District of Hillsborough County in Tampa, Florida with nearly 29,000 Special Education students; and by Jefferson County Public Schools in Denver, housing approximately 9,000 Special Education students. Recently, Spring Branch in Texas purchased this application to augment their usage of the INFORM(TM) system, thus providing a cohesive system amongst general and special education staff, who manage approximately 3,500 special education students.
