SysOpen Digia to expand its Business Intelligence service offering
SysOpen Digia has concluded a partnership agreement with Cognos Oy to reinforce its ability to deliver Business Intelligence solutions to its clients. SysOpen Digia has already been supplying its clients with BI solutions based on Cognos products, but the new Cognos 8 BI product family will enable the introduction of the company’s Business Intelligence services as part of corporate architectures in accordance with SOA principles, which has for long been SysOpen Digia’s strong area of expertise.
’SysOpen Digia has created an extensive Business Intelligence Competency Centre alongside the partnership agreement. Cognos’ BI products and SysOpen Digia’s offering and expertise complement each other extremely well. It is possible to deliver BI services which, as added value, can be integrated within a service-oriented architecture or can be ready for such integration if the client is still considering the application of SOA principles,’ explains Manager Tuomo Permikangas of SysOpen Digia. ’SOA is not only a technology but, above all, a business-oriented development that can be used to boost the company’s business operations and gain competitive edge. With the Cognos partnership, our clients will also have this high-standard service offering at their disposal during the life cycle of the BI solution,’ continues Permikangas of SysOpen Digia.
’This partnership with SysOpen Digia, a leading system integrator in Finland, will support the integration of BI services based on Cognos Oy’s products as part of the companies’ SOA architecture in accordance with best practices. SysOpen Digia’s expertise and resources will reinforce Cognos’ position in the market,’ says Juha Taipalus, who is responsible for Cognos’ partnership activities. ’SysOpen Digia is an important IT company, and this co-operation will provide Cognos with access to SysOpen Digia’s strong customer bases and target groups,’ Taipalus adds.
Business Intelligence (BI) comprises tools and systems that play a key role in the strategic planning process of companies. Companies use these BI applications for gathering, storing, processing and analysing business information in support of decision-making. Common BI application functions include search services and reporting, OLAP (online analytical processing), statistical analysis, forecasting and data mining.
Service Oriented Architecture, SOA, is a new kind of approach to implementing a company’s business architecture by enabling the reuse of the company’s own, its partners’ and its clients’ systems, data warehouses and processes in a more flexible and cost effective way than before. SOA brings both the process integration of business operations and information system integration within a single framework for the first time and creates a common language between business operations and IT.
