Spring Exam Period Begins this Week for Industrial Hygienists Seeking CIH® Certification

April 1st through May 31st is the Spring Exam window for ABIH’s Certified Industrial Hygienist® (CIH®) program.

For those who missed the February 1st deadline to become eligible for the Spring Exam window, the deadline to submit completed applications for the Fall 2016 Exam is August 1st.

The Spring Exam window for successful Applicants looking to take their industrial hygiene careers to the next level begins later this week on the first day of April.   The CIH® exam is administered by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene® (ABIH®) and approved candidates have until the last day of May to take the exam.
 
ABIH® offers two exam windows each year: April-May and October-November.  Successful Applicants who have been approved to take the exam and have paid their exam fee can schedule to take the CIH® exam anytime within those timeframes. Those taking the exam will encounter 180 questions that cover an individual’s knowledge and skills across the broad general practice of industrial hygiene. Subject areas include:

  • Biohazards
  • Biostatistics & Epidemiology
  • Community Exposure
  • Engineering Controls/Ventilation

The allotted time for the exam is 5 hours, with an optional break between the two sections of the exam.  ABIH® has contracted with Prometric to provide convenient exam locations throughout the United States, Canada and in more than 80 other countries across the globe.
