In accomplishing her familial obligation, she puts aside her ambitions.

How far will you go to show your love for your family? For Dr. Rosalie H. Contino, the love for family knows no bounds. In her book As Life Goes On: Lessons One Doesn’t Want to Have to Learn, Contino abandons her dreams to take care for her mildly schizophrenic brother.

The memoir talks about her happiness, troubles, pain, disappointments, and grief as she devotes her time taking care of her brother. In accomplishing her familial obligation, she puts aside her ambitions. Without regret, she fulfilled her valued promise to her parents—that is, to always look out for Bob.

The author sincerely wishes to reach readers who seek to understand the effects of mental disorders. She said, “I hope to inspire others to continually express their love and support for their beloved, friends, and colleagues who are affected by mental illness.”
