Continental’s First Cut Live Teams With LiningUp to Broadcast Outdoor Line-Up Parties and Zaniness From “Star Wars Episode III” Premiere Live From Grauman’s Chinese Theatre
LOS ANGELES, CA -- 03/30/2005 -- Continental Vista, the leading provider of turnkey Internet broadcasting systems for an extensive range of industries, announces that one of its networks, First Cut Live, and non-profit organization, LiningUp.net, will broadcast the crowds of fans lining up for the world premiere of “Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith” live from Hollywood’s Grauman Chinese Theatre. In the past, over five million fans worldwide tuned in to watch the lining up frenzy over a four-week period. Starting April 3rd (more than a month before the event), about 200 people will begin lining up so they can be among the 1,250 fans watching the midnight premiere of the film, which opens May 19, 2005.

First Cut Live will broadcast all the activity surrounding the line 24 hours a day, as LiningUp hopes to raise at least $50,000 for Starlight-Starbright Children’s Foundation, an international non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for seriously ill children and their families. This year’s charity goal is also in addition to the $75,000 that was raised by lining up for the previous two “Star Wars” premieres in 1999 and 2002. Donations can be made several ways as people sponsor individuals as they wait hours, days, weeks in line, or donations can be made directly via an online donation form. Online donations to LiningUp.net already exceed $5,000 and are expected to grow at a rapid rate as the film premiere date closes in.

Continental Vista’s First Cut Live network will be on the front lines catching all of the action, as well as allowing viewers at home to interact with people in line on Hollywood Blvd. via chat rooms and message boards. LiningUp will use these message boards to create interactive game shows, in which questions will be posted online allowing viewers who want to submit answers to call the designated payphone located at the start of the line to receive a prize. Viewers at home can also dial the payphone’s number, which will be posted online, to call and interact with people in line and request video content they want to see on the broadcasting site. LiningUp will also broadcast entertaining features, such as popular “Star Wars” parodies and other content.

“The ’Star Wars’ fan community is one of the largest communities around the world,” says Justin Sewell, Event Coordinator for LiningUp.net. “There really was no way for all of the communities and fans to really come together in one location, come to one place as part of one group, so working with Continental Vista and creating an online video network is a perfect opportunity for people anywhere in the world to log on and interact all in the name of ’Star Wars.’”

“We are pleased to broadcast the activity surrounding the final ’Star Wars’ film in history,” says Greg Demetriades, CEO of Continental Vista Broadcasting Group. “Not only are we helping spread and share the buzz with thousands of fans across the world, but we are also able to raise money for a good cause in the process.”

Continental Vista offers a variety of networks that enhance the broadcast experience through interactivity. About LiningUp

LiningUp.net was created by a small group of core members from the original Countingdown.com line who camped out for six weeks to see the very first showing of “Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace,” at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in April and May of 1999. In April of 2002, members started another six-week line for “Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.” Once more, a diverse group of fans of various ages and backgrounds, got together to camp out on Hollywood Blvd. and help raise money for the Starlight-Starbright Children’s Foundation.
