Dates Announced: The Elizabeth Hospice Hosts Camp Erin San Diego June 3-5, 2016
Local San Diego youth coping with loss have been able to find support and comfort at Camp Erin® San Diego, an overnight weekend camp at no charge, hosted by the Center for Compassionate Care of The Elizabeth Hospice in partnership with The Moyer Foundation.
This annual weekend summer camp is open to children and teens ages 6 to 17 who are grieving from the death of someone close to them. This year’s camp will be held June 3-5, 2016 in Julian, CA. This free camp experience combines traditional, high-energy camp activities with grief support and education.
Camp Erin San Diego is now accepting applications for campers for the June 2016 camp. More information is available at https://elizabethhospice.org/services/counseling/camp-erin-san-diego, firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling (800) 797-2050. Volunteers are also needed.
One of the recent Camp Erin San Diego participants explains, “I feel that this year I have truly taken big steps towards moving forward from my grief. I believe that my sadness has turned to happiness. Now when I think of my dad, I will be filled with love and memories. I’ll never get over my dad. Nobody will ever fully move on with their loss. However, I learned to live with it and still enjoy life.” – 13 year old, male
“Camp Erin San Diego attendees will discover the treasure of peer support and learn healthy outlets and strategies that they can take home,” said Liz Sumner, Director of the Center for Compassionate Care of The Elizabeth Hospice.
