Clementene Ewell Hughes Tells the Story of Emelee and Stanley, Then Displayed Book in BEA 2015
This warm and colorful book will give you the chance to revisit the innocence of childhood.
A friendship can be forged when you least expect it. And there are moments when your notion of who to befriend and who to ignore can be changed in just a blink of an eye. This is what the book entitled Emelee and her Friend Stanley is trying to tell us. It’s an illustrated book written by Clementene Ewell Hughes, which is not only for children but it’s intended for people of all ages.
The book starts when Emelee was dropped by her mom at the public library’s romper room area. She didn’t want to be there but she doesn’t really have a choice. But to her surprise, a boy named Stanley tapped her shoulder and asked her to play. Instead of spending a day in silent reading, the two kids spent it playing and having fun.
And as time passes by, Emelee was getting along fine with Stanley and his family. They have forged a harmonious friendship and a gathering at the Church made their families closer. However, when Stanley showed his lack of musical ears, everything the two of them shared might be shattered.
This warm and colorful book will give you the chance to revisit the innocence of childhood. You can rediscover how friendships are made when we were young. And you can probably learn how to expand your network of friends by just a tap on the shoulder and an inviting smile. So, if you’re interested to feel all of these and more, then spend an afternoon flipping the pages of Emelee and her Friend Stanley for an entertaining read.
Moreover, the book was displayed at the BookExpo America 2015, held last May 27-29, 2015 at the Javits Center in New York City, New York. Hughes’s book, along with other titles, was displayed at the LitFire Publishing booth during the event.
