“The Camouflaged Heart”

Life is about having the courage to choose happiness amidst all the horrible things you’ve experienced.

Life is a matter of perspective. It is a never-ending roller coaster ride filled with ups and downs, and twists and turns. The ride might seem scary, but if you choose to see life in a positive light, you’ll know that each twist and turn is worth the ride. After all, you only get to do this once.

“The Camouflaged Heart” is meant to help its readers see the beauty of life. It’s meant to help its readers see the silver lining to every cloud that looms their day. Life does entail a lot of suffering, but it never is about suffering. It is about having the courage to overcome the challenges that come your way. Life is about having the courage to choose happiness amidst all the horrible things you’ve experienced. You don’t want to be overpowered by your tragedies. You also don’t want to sit and watch your loved ones suffer theirs.

Susie Guckin’s book addresses Traumatic Brain Injuries, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and trauma.  Readers will find motivational advice. Readers will be taught how to tame their dragons. The soldiers from the Army Base that Guckin volunteered in encouraged her to spread her story. And here it is. This book is based on a presentation she made for the military  medical staff. It’s built to inform and inspire. If our soldiers find solace in Guckin’s work, you will, most definitely, find the help that you need in this book.

“The Camouflaged Heart” is written in a conversation tone, sans the baffling medical lingo that make it impossible for a layman to understand. It teaches individuals how to find inner peace, thus highlighting the importance of patience and empathy. More importantly, readers will be taught that they are never alone in their suffering. Friends and family can help a lot in getting them on the road to recovery.

Guckin’s poignant words have helped several war heroes face mind-numbing tragedies. The fact is, life is beautiful, and everyone deserves to see that. Do read and share Susie Guckin’s  “The Camouflaged Heart.”

About the Author

Susie Guckin is a Jersey Shore native born in Toms River, New Jersey. In her childhood, she frequented Fort Dix, now known as Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, because her Dad was a retired medical soldier from the Vietnam era. At 25, she revisited the Joint Base as a volunteer for USO. Her accumulated knowledge about brain injury and post-traumatic stress and her experiences from the soldiers at the local Army base proved to be great material for her book. She founded “Peaceful Warriors” in Lacey Township, New Jersey, which is meant to motivate and support people who have been through traumatic experiences. Aside from writing, she travels nationally and internationally to spread her recovery story  as an effort to lead people to the path of recovery.
