TestAmerica Partners with Microbial Insights to Offer Bioremediation Testing Support

TestAmerica Laboratories, Inc. and Microbial Insights, Inc. have entered in to a strategic partnering agreement to expand services in the environmental remediation market.  Microbial Insights is a woman owned small business specializing in the development and application of molecular biological tools (MBTs) to describe and quantify microbial communities.  TestAmerica provides a full range of environmental testing services to clients engaged in remediation services.  Both companies have special expertise and experience in providing services to the environmental remediation market and this partnership will streamline contracts for both chemical and microbial analyses. 
 
Microbial Insights provides DNA and biochemical diagnostic testing to assist clients in understanding and managing biological processes. Microbial Insights is best known for CENSUS qPCR quantification of Dehalococcoides but offers assays for a wide range of applications including environmental remediation, microbial induced corrosion and microbial source tracking.  With more than 20 years of molecular biological testing, Microbial Insights assists in all stages of the process from assay selection through data interpretation.
 
Bioremediation is often an attractive remediation option and Monitored Natural Attenuation (MNA) is increasingly selected as a remediation alternative after a contaminant source has been removed and low concentrations of contaminants remain in the soil or groundwater.  With the right conditions and microorganisms present, MNA uses natural processes including biodegradation to decrease the concentrations of these contaminants over time.  Assessment and regular monitoring must be conducted to ensure that MNA continues to work.  Microbial Insights supports MNA assessment and monitoring by analyzing water and soil for key microorganisms that assist in MNA and offers stable isotope probing to demonstrate contaminant biodegradation has occurred. TestAmerica supports monitoring programs by analyzing soil and water samples to verify that contaminants at a site are decreasing over time.
