Competitive Coding Champ and Senior Google Engineer, Ahmed Aly, Joins HackerRank to Unearth Technical Talent Across the World via Digital Hackathons

Today HackerRank, the technical talent platform used by programmers to hone their coding skills and by companies to recruit tech talent, announces the hiring of Ahmed Aly as lead software engineer. Aly’s extensive experience in competitive coding further accelerates HackerRank’s mission of making the world flat by unearthing hidden talent and giving them a platform to get recognition for their skills.

Aly has consistently ranked in the top 2 percent of ‘best coders in the world’ and has seven years experience judging, running and competing in coding competitions. At Google, Aly worked directly on Google’s search algorithm while also running the company’s competitive coding competitions with over 56,000 registrants for several years, CodeJams. In addition, Aly founded A2 Online Judge, a website that aggregates challenges from 14 different competitive coding sites.

The news comes on the heels of several other company milestones. HackerRank was named to the CNBC Disruptor 50 List for its gamified solution to hiring tech talent and Forbes named the company’s CEO and cofounder, Vivek Ravisankar, as one of 2015’s most influential enterprise technology professionals under the age of 30. The company also raised strategic funding in July 2015 from Recruit Holding’s HR Technology Fund.
