Aerobiology Laboratory Supports Legionella Testing Clients Following New Legislation

NYC Mayor Enacts Bill to Reduce Legionnaires’ Outbreaks

Sterling, VA / U.S.A. – WEBWIRE

Following the largest known outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease in New York City, which has caused the death of twelve people and sickened more than 125 others, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has signed legislation to prevent future spread of this deadly disease.  A summary of the legislation requires all cooling towers to be registered, tested for Legionnaires’ disease, and cleaned over the next thirty days, effective August 18, 2015.  This legislation impacts not only water treatment customers, but healthcare related industries, commercial building property management, and general indoor air quality studies.
