DALLAS (September 8, 2006) -- Widevine Technologies, the leading provider of content protection and forensic watermarking solutions for IP video, has embedded its protection capabilities into Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI’s) (NYSE: TXN) DaVinciTM technology-based digital media processors to facilitate secure consumption of broadcast and VOD content on a wide range of consumer devices. “Widevine is recognized as the content security leader by content providers and has strong ties with major motion picture studios, broadcasters and programmers,” said Charlie Gonsalves, TI business development manager, Digital Video - Steaming Media. “This relationship will provide our customers the ability to confidently design their products on DaVinci technology-based processors, knowing that video operators can more flexibly and affordably deliver secure content on retail available devices or that the content streamed to those devices is secured by technology that has enabled IP video deployments all around the world.”

In this collaboration, the patented Widevine Cypher® Virtual SmartCardTM will secure content processed by TI’s DaVinci technology. The agreement underscores TI’s vision of packaging key streaming media technologies on TI silicon to give manufacturers low-risk, easy-to-use solutions, and further bolsters the Widevine Digital Media Processor Partner Program, which enables consumer electronics manufacturers to deliver an appropriate level of content protection out of the box. This means video operators have the ability to deliver high quality, premium content to a wide footprint of available devices that are Hollywood studio approved for secure content consumption.

“TI and Widevine are leaders in the streaming media market, making this collaboration a natural fit and win for both companies, as well as our customers,” said Widevine CEO Brian Baker. “By pre-integrating our solutions upfront, we make it easier for video operators to make decisions on which devices they will purchase. Combining the capabilities of TI’s powerful digital media processors based on DaVinci technology and Widevine’s market focus and security expertise offers operators the broadest flexibility, choice and control over their IP video business.”

TI’s DaVinci technology is an integrated offering of processors, software and tools that allows the delivery of a full range of IPTV and VoD capabilities. Digital media processors based on DaVinci technology are based on the high performance TMS320C64x+ generation of DSPs and include host processors and video and audio peripherals that match consumer entertainment equipment specifications.

Widevine Cypher is a downloadable conditional access and digital rights management solution that protects linear broadcast and VOD content that prevents piracy on set-top boxes, personal video recorders, home media gateways, and other consumer electronic devices within the home. When coupled, operators have access to a solution that provides unmatched content processing capabilities as well as the protection they need to acquire, license and securely distribute premium content to consumers - where and when they want it.

DaVinci technology-based digital media processors secured by Widevine are available today as part of DaVinci technology’s software development kit platform.
