Excellence in Technical Innovation for the NV8288 Digital Video Router

Grass Valley, CA – September 07, 2006 –– At this year’s recent BIRTV (Beijing International Radio, Film and Television) exhibition in Beijing, China, NVISION’s NV8288 Digital Video Router has been honored with the “Outstanding Product Award” in recognition of setting new industry standards in high density routing. This is NVISION’s second annual award, won consecutively, from BIRTV for the Company’s technical excellence.

The NV8288 is ideal for use in TV broadcast production trucks and vans, or other applications where space is limited. For example, Telegenic, the leading supplier of outside broadcast (OB) production vehicles in the UK, uses the NV8288 in its new T14 high-definition (HD), mobile broadcast truck, which will be primarily used to cover sporting events. The truck incorporates a very large, 6-meter-deep, expandable, video-tape area, which would normally require the capacity of two vans. The NV8288 has enabled Telegenic to save considerable space in its latest mobile broadcast truck and money on its original investment plan.

The smallest big router in the world, the NV8288 delivers the same high level of performance and reliability of NVISION’s large-scale studio routers at half the size (10 RU), half the depth (12 inches deep), half the weight (approximately 150 lb.), and half the power consumption (less than two kilowatts), as compared to other large-scale routers on the market. The NV8288 also offers 3Gb/s bandwidth capability.

Last year at BIRTV 2005, NVISION’s NV8256-Plus Digital Video Router also won the Outstanding Product Award. Installations around the world use the NV8256-Plus for mission critical applications in which downtime is not allowed and where NVISION’s world leading HD-SDI SWB (Super Wide Band) signal transport technology is required. The award was given specifically for the NV8256 router’s N-on-1 crosspoint redundancy option, plus its schema for signal flexibility (Analog, SD, and HD in one chassis) and crosspoint matrix expansion.

BIRTV The BIRTV (Beijing International Radio, Film and Television) exhibition is the largest yearly gathering of radio and TV equipment manufacturers in China. The convention is highlighted by a contest that evaluates numerous entries in professional broadcast technology. All submissions (required in both English and Chinese) go through a process of rigorous analysis by BIRTV’s election committee, comprised of the top Chinese experts in broadcasting. Prizes are awarded to products with the most innovative technologies, and in the contest’s Video Broadcasting and Production category, NVISION’s award was the only one given for routing systems. “The BIRTV awards are of paramount importance for the broadcast and film industry in China,” said NVISION’s Director of International Sales, Dave Edmonds. “This prestigious award reinforces NVISION’s standing within the Chinese broadcast industry, and is additionally notable because this is the second Outstanding Product Award and the second year in which NVISION has been an exhibitor at BIRTV. NVISION has a strong commitment to the Chinese broadcast market, and therefore the honor of this award is very gratifying.” Annie Shi, who authored the award submission to BIRTV, is NVISION’s country manager and is responsible for operations of the Beijing office.
