“All in One” Integrated ADSL2+ Modem and Wireless Router with Voice (DG834GV) Meets Service Provider Interoperability Requirements for Streamlined Next-Generation Services

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — September 7, 2006 —
NETGEAR®, Inc. (Nasdaq: NTGR), a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking products, today announced that its new Integrated ADSL2+ Modem and Wireless Router with Voice (DG834GV) has successfully completed interoperability testing with Motive, Inc.’s Home Device Manager™ software. When deployed together, the two products can deliver a world-class solution for broadband service providers bringing new digital home services to market. The tests were administered in accordance with the MotiveSmart™ Verification Program, which assesses customer premises equipment (CPE) adherence with the DSL Forum’s WAN Management Protocol standards, known as TR-069. The Integrated Gateway was also tested and verified against the DSLHome™ Provisioning Parameters for VoIP CPE, known as TR-104.

“We’re delighted to team with Motive to bring our growing number of international broadband service provider partners an automated solution for remote activation, management and configuration of our ‘all-in-one’ service gateway – offering their customers seamless service delivery and an enhanced, hands-off customer experience,” said David James, NETGEAR’s director of broadband services products. “This verification demonstrates NETGEAR’s firm resolve to meet the increasing demand for remotely manageable devices that deliver next-generation services like VoIP and IPTV.”

The MotiveSmart™ Verification Program is an initiative to ensure that Motive and its partners adhere to the expanding interoperability requirements of service providers seeking to reduce the time to market for next-generation services without increasing the costs to support and upgrade them. Interoperability with Motive’s software enables users of Motive’s Home Device Manager product to automatically configure, and remotely activate and maintain NETGEAR-branded CPEs, greatly simplifying the delivery of triple play – voice, video, and data – services. These automated management capabilities enable carriers to reduce overhead expenditures by responding to customer support inquiries and upgrading equipment more quickly. End-customers benefit from zero-touch device configuration, online registration, automated services, faster customer support, and remote equipment upgrades.

“The Motive Smart Verification Program highlights our commitment to work with industry-leading CPE manufacturers to provide real value to service providers through standards-based technology solutions,” said RJ Brideau, Motive’s vice president of business and channel development. “NETGEAR’s interoperability with Motive Home Device Manager ensures that when service providers deploy the two products together, they benefit from reduced operational costs, increased customer satisfaction and faster delivery of next-generation services.”

NETGEAR announced the first worldwide availability of the Integrated ADSL2+ Modem and Wireless Router with Voice (DG834GV) in early August. Six products in one, it combines an ADSL2+ Modem, Router, 10/100 Wired LAN Switch, 802.11g Wireless Access Point, Voice-over-IP (VoIP), and SPI Double Firewall – offering greater simplicity for home and business networking. The Integrated Gateway is available now in Australia, with future rollout in other geographies through NETGEAR broadband service provider partners.
