Why is Nickel Plating Better than Chrome or Welding as a means of Permanent Repair? Military Approved
Nickel Plating is Revolutionary Electro-Chemical Engineering Process that will Restore a part to better than new with a Stronger Base Metal than before (54 HRc). This will save Time, Money & cut Downtime.

Arrow Electro-Plating Repaired a Groove in this Rotor to Like-New Condition with a Stronger Base Metal than Before.
Welding was not an option, neither was chrome. We couldn’t use heat to repair the part. Nickel Plating was great as no heat is involved in the repair process. It restored the part to better than new condition without post machining or grinding.
- Electro-Chemical Metallizing Has Federal Approval As A Means Of Permanent Repair.
- Arrow Electro-Plating Gives excellent results on virtually all commonly used base metals and alloys.
- Deposit quality and adhesion to base materials equivalent or superior to tank plating.
- Over 40 years of research and development in selective electro-finishing technology.
In contrast to tank plating, Electro-Chemical Metallizing Process does not require extensive masking, special fixtures, or elaborate equipment. Electro-Chemical Metallizing Process deposits have excellent adhesion at rates that are 30 to 60 times faster than conventional tank plating. Quality of deposits and adhesion to base materials are, as a whole, equivalent or superior to that which may be obtained using good tank plating practices.
Damage from wear, corrosion, or mis-machining can be repaired using Electro-Chemical Metallizing. Deposits that offer wear resistance, low electrical contact resistance, or corrosion protection also can be applied selectively to improve components that have been manufactured from inexpensive base metals. The process does not require pre-heating or post-heating of the substrate, thus avoiding elevated temperature induced stress.
Even during long operations that require heated solutions, temperatures of the solutions seldom exceed 140° F. Electro-Chemical Metallizing also avoids other problems that are common to most repair processes such as induced porosity, improper mechanical bonding, hydrogen embrittlement, and removal of excess host material which weakens the component.
Many repairs are accomplished without pre-machining or post-machining. (The determining factors are thickness of deposit, tolerance called for and finish requirement.) Many applications metallize to size, others are ground or machined, based on specific instructions. Damaged areas on Chromed Cylinders are effectively repaired. Frequently, gouges may be filled with Copper and capped with Dense Nickel for corrosion resistance or Cobalt for color match.
