Research Triangle Park, N.C. - September 07, 2006
Wavecom, Inc., a leader in prepackaged wireless communications solutions for automotive, industrial machine-to-machine (M2M) and mobile professional applications is opening its new regional headquarters for the Americas region at 430 Davis Drive, Suite 300, Research Triangle Park, N.C. 27709. The facility will house more than 90 employees in design and development, operations, marketing and sales.

“The new facility in Research Triangle Park is a reflection of our leadership position in the Americas region and signifies a major milestone in the integration of the former Sony Ericsson M2M business into the rest of the corporation,” said Anders Franzen, Chief Operating Officer and senior executive in the region. “We are thrilled about the location and look forward to using it as a launching point to enhance our technological development, sales and customer service throughout North and South America.”

Wavecom acquired the Sony Ericsson division in April of this year in the first consolidation of two major players in the M2M space, valued at €32.5 million. The deal expanded the company’s global presence and created a development powerhouse.

The Wavecom office in San Diego, Calif. will remain open as a critical support point for business in the region, which generated 25% of total corporate revenues for the 2nd quarter of 2006.
