HeiLu Adds Senior Designer, Joanne Millard, to Their Growing Team

With over 20 years in the commercial furniture space, industry professional Joanne Millard recently joined the HeiLu team. As Senior Designer, Joanne will work strategically alongside HeiLu owners, Scott and Tim, to create innovative and functional work environments that will meet HeiLu’s client’s needs, aesthetics and budget. 
 
“I met Scott in 1998 and again recently at an industry meeting. After running into each other and hearing about Scott and Tim’s vision for their company, I quickly realized that I wanted to be a part of the HeiLu team,” explained Joanne Millard. “I feel very lucky to have been selected to be part of such an amazing team and look forward to sharing in the growth and success of the company.”  
 
Prior to HeiLu, Joanne worked as a Senior Designer for several years at a Teknion Dealer and other large furniture dealers, focusing on a broad array of projects geared towards higher education, like the UCI Student Center. Leading the UCI design team for a year and a half allowed Joanne to showcase her full design capabilities, creating a 4-floor project with multiple office spaces, study areas, lounges, training rooms, conference rooms, two food courts, a Pub and outdoor terrace seating.  Joanne’s new role as Senior Designer for HeiLu will allow her to be involved in all aspects of the design process from inception to completion including programming, typical development, space planning, product selections, product specification, finish selections and on site verifications.
 
Joanne credits her success to her ability to engage with the employees that will be utilizing the newly designed space, determining what specific needs will help facilitate a successful end result to increase productivity and overall company moral. Her biggest accomplishment was receiving the Designer of the Year award from past employers, which allowed her to realize just how much of a valuable asset she was to her team.
