Allegheny Health Network Director of Prehospital Medicine, Colleagues, Contribute to Newest Edition of Air Medical Transport Textbook

P.S. Martin, MD, FACEP, Director of the Division of Prehospital Medicine at Allegheny Health Network (AHN) and Medical Director of LifeFlight, AHN’s air medical program, is Associate Editor of the newly published second edition of “Principles and Direction of Air Medical Transport: Advancing Air and Ground Critical Care Transport Medicine.”
The book “is the culmination of countless hours and is a reflection of the dedication and passion that our members have for the service we provide to our patients,” said William R. Hinckley, MD, and Christopher J. Fullagar, MD, past president and president of the Air Medical Physician Association. “Perhaps more than any publication, it strives to address the educational needs of the entire air and ground medical transport community.”

Additional AHN and Allegheny General Hospital (AGH) personnel contributed to the 1,000-page book. They include:

Moira Davenport, MD, Associate Residency Director, Emergency Medicine, Allegheny General Hospital, and Brent Steven Hardman, MD, Chief Resident, Emergency Medicine, AGH, on “Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Considerations in Air Transport.”

Arvind Venkat, MD, FACEP, Vice Chair for Research and Faculty Academic Affairs, Department of Emergency Medicine, AHN, and Ethics Committee Chair at AHN and AGH, on “Ethical Issues in Air Medical Transport.”

Michael Yeh, MD, Resident Physician, Departments of Emergency and Internal Medicine, Allegheny General Hospital, on “Transport Considerations for Mechanical Circulatory Support Devices.”

The book was introduced at the 2015 Critical Care Transport Medicine Conference, held April 20-22 in Charlotte, NC.
