Life By Design Not By Default

Focusing on your own needs and upgrading what you expect from life, can create the change you’re looking forward to in your marriage.

Woman’s issues expert Lisa McAdams said that by working on yourself and finding your passion for life can reignite the passion in your marriage.

“Staying small to keep a partner happy is not a recipe for a good marriage or a happy life,” Ms McAdams said

“Women often sacrifice their own needs to keep their partner happy,” she said

“The more you take care of yourself the more you have to offer others,”

“If you don’t know how to make yourself happy, how can your partner possibly know how?”

“Feeling good about yourself will enhance your life whether or not your partner gets it or not.”

“If you are not putting yourself first, who is?”

Ms McAdams said that with longer lifespans comes the challenge for women to be happy in their own right and have a fulfilling connected relationship and women could benefit from the following.

  • Take time to discover what you want from life: where can you add more joy.
  • Check you are living in alignment: are you living a life you value?
  • Find time for me time: spend time each day thinking about you and your desires.
  • Have a date night: If you partner won’t join you, go alone or invite a friend.
  • Claim you happiness: you don’t have to wait for partner to give you permission to be happy.

Relationships Australia advise ‘tell your partner when you happy or unhappy about something – honestly and respectfully and encourage your partner to do the same.

Ms McAdams said in order to let your partner know you are happy you need to rediscover what makes you happy.

Ms McAdams runs a program for women in their 40’s embracing a new life after divorce called Money, Me and Moving On Me After Divorce. For more information visit: www.lisamcadams.com
