Indiegogo LAUNCH for comedy prom movie, AFTER PROM, kicks off just in time for Prom Season
Announcing the $10,000 Indiegogo campaign launch for AFTER PROM, a hybrid genre film that combines great 80’s teen film and the 90’s golden era of black cinema.
AFTER PROM is a teenage version of WHEN HARRY MET SALLY except it all takes place in one night.
Tuesday, April 21, Writer/Director Myron Ward kicks off a $10,000 seed funding Indiegogo pledge launch for his hilariously awkward black teen rom-com feature film AFTER PROM. The film’s Trailer and campaign video can be seen here at igg.me/at/afterprom.
MYRON WARD’S goal is to produce commercial, ethnically diverse cinema for the masses. AFTER PROM will be his feature film debut as both writer and director and will serve to provide what he calls “cinematic equality in the narrative of the teenage rom-com”. AFTER PROM was inspired by films such as “Sweet Sixteen”, “High Fidelity” and “Pretty In Pink”.
AFTER PROM stars Vladimir Versailles (SIDE EFFECTS (2014), MOOZ-LUM (2010) as Deshaun and Nydia Simone (HOMECOMING (2012) as Zakiya. AFTER PROM is a coming-of-age, black teen romantic comedy about a guy and girl who are childhood friends on their way to separate college lives, that swore if they were still virgins by Senior Prom that they’d sleep together. The film follows the hilarities of prom night as the two try to make good on the promise while awkwardly navigating past the “Friend Zone” without destroying their friendship. The indiegogo campaign for AFTER PROM looks to raise $10,000 of seed investment for development funds to secure the capital needed to finance the $500,000 dollar film. Funds raised will be used for pre-production expenses such as to retain legal services, cast, storyboard, produce a table-read of the script to attract investors, and more. For pledge contributors, there is an exciting list of perks and rewards, from tickets to the table read, signed posters, to even the writer/director Myron Ward cooking dinner for you and up to 3 guests.
