Industry experts discuss re-inventing the utility sector

By introducing the latest Machine-to-Machine (M2M) technology into the energy and utility sector, suppliers will be able to provide system reliability and transparency.

The latest Vodafone M2M Utilities Insights examines how the utility suppliers are now in a much better position to match demand to supply.

This technology solution will revolutionise the industry and help reduce wastage, costs and inconvenience. “Every utility is made up of an array of ‘things’ that are widely dispersed, and so enabling those ‘things’ to talk to each other consistently can only be good,” says Wayne Flanagan, Vodafone’s Global Head of Smart Metering.

By installing M2M technology at various points of the supply chain, businesses will be able to analyse their systems for the upmost efficiency, while minimising downtime and waste. It’s about increasing control, matching demand, and importantly increasing public trust.
