In the movie, the life of an everyday girl on Earth takes an unexpected turn when an alien comes looking for her. A popular topic in movies like “Men in Black,” the existence of alien life on Earth and its interaction with humans has given rise to numerous conspiracy theories on the impact aliens might have had on our history. The release of “Jupiter Ascending” this week has renewed popular interest on the topic, as Google Search trends have shown that more and more people are looking to learn about “ancient aliens” and their impact on Earth.
“I’m not surprised that “Jupiter Ascending” has had this effect,” said Chris Kennedy, author of The Theogony science fiction trilogy, where much of human history is seen through the lens of clandestine alien interaction. “There are many episodes in human history that don’t appear to make sense when viewed in isolation. Alien interaction is a convenient explanation for a wide variety of events in our past, from the disappearance of the Mayans to the mysteries of the Bermuda Triangle.”
Kennedy, who is working on the fourth novel in the Janissaries line, has been prolific in detailing how alien intervention might explain some of the seeming inconsistencies in our history.
