Movyabox Delivers Streaming Media On The Go - No Internet Required

This week Nashville-based Movyabox announced that it had launched its portable Movyabox media streaming device on Kickstarter and was pleased with results over the first 48 hours.  CEO Noel Pennington invented the pocket-sized, rechargeable product after trying unsuccessfully to find a solution to backseat bickering during long road trips, where his two daughters and wife preferred very different types of movies to pass the time.  Getting the right media loaded onto various phones and tablets for his family proved a time-consuming task that demanded regularly deleting content to make room for new movies or lugging a bag of DVDs with him, inevitably forgetting that favorite DVD.   Now, Noel transports a large media library on his tiny Movyabox and streams whatever his family wants to up to six devices – without any nasty surprise data overage bills from his phone carrier since no bandwidth or wifi network is required.

Once the Kickstarter campaign has fully funded, the Movyabox team plans to use the funds to partner with a leading manufacturer it has worked with in the past to further simplify the product design for even greater ease of use and visual appeal.  The media player software will also get a facelift.  “I found usability to really be lacking when I tried looking for similar solutions on the market.  There are tools out there that work well with Wifi at home or a single device or while plugged in, but nothing else that lets you easily take your media with you and wirelessly stream different shows to each family member,” said Pennington. “The early feedback from Kickstarter backers is overwhelmingly positive and validates that we’ve hit on an unmet need in the market.”

The product will remain available on Kickstarter until early March, before becoming available through online shopping channels at its full retail price.  The team is currently engaging with the Kickstarter community by answering questions, discussing additional product uses, and providing updates and new rewards levels.
