“Using the VictorOps Transmogrifier has saved us a phenomenal amount of work,” said Daniel Zacek, CTO, 9-1-1 Labs. “Creating rules with the Transmogrifier and checking the results of those rules has become integral to our software building process. The VictorOps platform, specifically the Transmogrifier, has become a focal point for our team. It’s baked into our process and it’s making us better.”

VictorOps, the leading alert management and on-call collaboration platform for IT and DevOps teams, today makes its Transmogrifier feature publicly available. This release delivers on customer feedback and addresses common challenges related to alert fatigue/noise and the surfacing of real-time contextual data to reduce Time-to-Resolution (TTR).

VictorOps Transmogrifier addresses two of the biggest issues of being on-call -- documentation and alert fatigue. When using the feature, real-time remediation data and suggested solutions come attached to an initial alert. This places relevant facts in the hands of engineers when it counts. The feature addresses everything from cleaning up and quieting alarms to ensuring alarms are directed to specific people with links to internal triage documentation. The Transmogrifier also gives teams a process for transforming alerts and enabling them to behave differently in the future.

VictorOps customers can take advantage of the ability to annotate alarms with runbooks and use the Transmogrifier as a mechanism to extend on-call responsibilities to their Development team. Current users of the feature have found that this has empowered their larger team and given developers a more inclusive and complete view of an incident--effectively integrating everyday DevOps tools with incident response tools and documentation.

“The Transmogrifier is an incredibly powerful and flexible tool. As a result of implementing it, team morale has significantly improved,” said Jeremy Welch, Services Engineer, Entrust Datacard. “Using the Transmogrifier, we can document processes associated with specific systems so that when an alert surfaces, there is zero confusion about what steps need to be taken. This is extremely helpful for on-boarding new team members, as well as educating existing staff.”

The feature is now available to all existing customers, via the public beta, as well as those currently participating in a 14 day free trial. Additionally, a webinar will take place on Feb 11th at 11:00 (PST) highlighting the new functionality and showcasing how current customers are already using the feature.

“We found that our first set of beta users really leaned into the feature and created some powerful rules right out of the gate,” said Joni Klippert, vice president of product, VictorOps. “We had 22 companies participate in the private beta and within weeks they had generated hundreds of rules. We found that these companies had pent up demand for a mechanism to attach metadata to alarms, like runbooks and graphs, so that their ops teams could more efficiently troubleshoot.”
